Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing process by allowing patients to breathe pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This therapy increases oxygen intake beyond normal levels, enabling cells to optimize nutrient utilization from the bloodstream, thereby supporting tissue healing effectively.

How Does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Work?

During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), the pressurized environment allows oxygen to dissolve directly into the liquid part of the blood, called plasma. Normally, oxygen is carried by red blood cells to tissues and organs. With HBOT, this dissolved oxygen is delivered deep into the body's tissues, including the lymphatic system and the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. This results in much higher oxygen levels in the body—sometimes more than 10 times the normal amount. For people with certain medical conditions, this concentrated oxygen delivery can be therapeutic, enhancing the body's natural healing processes.

Who Can Benefit From Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) offers benefits to individuals across various needs, whether you're an athlete aiming for faster recovery times, undergoing post-surgery rehabilitation, or experiencing general fatigue or tiredness.

The Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

  • Boosts circulation and oxygenation levels

  • Improves energy levels

  • Speeds up recovery from sprains, tears, and bone fractures

  • Alleviates stress and anxiety

  • Stimulates the production of new blood cells

  • Diminishes inflammation and pain

  • Bolsters the immune system

  • Enhances oxygenation to cardiac tissue

What to Expect Before, After and During Treatment

Unlike some Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers that require an oxygen mask, our therapy is simpler. You just step into our chamber, lie down, and get comfortable. Feel free to bring along your phone, books, or tablets for entertainment, or bring blankets for a cozy nap. Once inside, a team member will zip the chamber closed to seal in the oxygen, and the therapy begins. As the session starts, you might feel pressure in your ears, similar to when a plane takes off. Once the pressure stabilizes, you can relax and enjoy the session. Throughout the process, you can communicate with our team if needed.Once the chamber is pressurized, it feels just like lying down at home and doesn't feel much different from normal. When the session ends, as the pressure decreases, simple actions like swallowing and yawning can help relieve any discomfort in your ears.
