ACL Rehabilitation: Post-OP Phase 2

Strength and Neuromuscular Control

Squat exercises during phase 2 of ACL rehab
Squat after ACL Reconstruction

The primary objectives of this rehabilitation phase are muscle strength, balance, and fundamental coordination.

The advancement of this phase relies entirely on what "the knee" decides to do. Pain and swelling are the primary limiting factors.

Lunges, step-ups, squats, calf raises, core exercises, and hamstring exercises are typical during this phase. Aerobic exercises such as cycling and swimming can also be incorporated into the rehabilitation program.

The most important goals for Phase 2 are:

  1. Regain single-leg balance

  2. Regain muscle strength

  3. Single-leg squat with good alignment and technique

Let us help you through your ACL rehabilitation.
